Our virtual ride begins in the tranquil Claife Heights, a stunning area known for its panoramic views of Lake Windermere and the surrounding countryside. As we set off, you’ll be enveloped by dense forests, ferns, and moss-covered stone walls, immersing you in the natural beauty of this UNESCO World Heritage site.
We ride past Wise Een Tarn, a serene, reflective body of water that mirrors the surrounding hills, providing a peaceful start to the journey. Soon after, we glide past Moss Eccles Tarn, a picturesque spot with historical significance to Beatrix Potter. Known for its calming atmosphere and quiet charm, this tarn offers the perfect backdrop for your ride, accompanied by the gentle sounds of flowing water and birdsong.
Our journey continues as we descend towards the charming village of Far Sawrey, nestled between hills with views of Lake Windermere in the distance. This village, along with its neighbor Near Sawrey, holds special ties to Beatrix Potter, with her beloved home, Hill Top, just nearby.
Cycling further down, we approach the western shores of Lake Windermere, England’s largest natural lake.
